Escapee

B aja Fibiger is home to many species of dinosaurs that have managed to survive in this hidden part of the Americas for millions of years. I'm sure you have seen some of them during rides around Fibiger Park, the area that we allow tourists to visit. While the dinosaurs are free to roam, we do monitor their health and try keep them from wandering too far from the park.  Today while doing my rounds I wasn't able to find one of the Euoplocephaluses that has been spending time around the park and was due for some blood work. Nothing serious, just a check to make sure she was doing well coming out of the cool winter months. Euoplocephalus (pronounced you-OH-plo-kef-ah-luss) are one of my favorite herbivores with their rows of spikes on the back for protection. We have yet to see one attacked even though they do draw the attention of the carnivorous creatures when they pass. Also, the spikes, being about six and a half meters long offer a good deterrent. Despite their look, they are...

A Spring Run Through the Jungle

Image
Now that the first line of Coastal Titans Railroads is operational, we'll share with you the fun and joy that awaits visitors. Right now, there is still limited tourist infrastructure but the train is running for those who can make it. Our journey begins at flower corner. Here in the coastal jungles, everything grows bigger. This Coreopsis titanii, endemic to Baja Fibiger but closely related to garden-variety coreopsis, towers over the rails. One of the biggest draws to the area are the dinosaurs that mysteriously survive here in these lowlands, cut off by mountain ranges and the sea, seen by only a few intrepid explorers, and now you. Part of the park's goal is to preserve these amazing creatures and enable the rest of the world to experience the thrill of encountering them. On a recent tour of the tracks, our chief engineer, Bartolome Thorvaldsen, leads a survey of the dinosaurs that can be seen from the rails today. Bartolome Thorvaldsen Anzu wy...

First Steam

Image
Vitus Emil Fibiger's dream has finally been realized. Today we fired up the first of our steam engines and ran around the completed track. After Vitus discovered Baja Fibiger, he wanted nothing more than to be able to share the unique beauty of the area with others. Due to the marshy lands, and some rather intimidating residents, a train is the best way to get visitors close to the amazing flora and fauna. Join us in celebrating this great milestone.  The rainy season is setting in so final work and opening to tourists will have to wait until next year. In the meantime, we will continue improving the rails, build a station, and restore our engine and rolling stock.  See you when we open.

Announcement

We are pleased to announce the founding of the Coastal Titans Railroad. Here, in a place called Baja Fibiger, Vitus Emil Fibiger discovered a land lost to time. Dinosaurs roam among plants and trees unseen for millions of years. Animals known only through fossils roam the lowlands. Even modern flowers grow here to incredible size. Daffodils tower over the lands dwarfing even the largest of dinosaurs. Enormous sunflowers rise beyond vision. Exotic daisies and herbs unlike anything Fibiger had ever encountered were around every bend. And best of all, they are all here for you to see. The Coastal Titan Railroad will soon be opening in Fibiger Park to provide tourists from around the globe a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with these amazing creatures. Make your plans now to see the amazing dinosaurs and plants of Fibiger Park.
